To support the self-determination of the Mapuche communities of Chile – and of all indigenous Peoples of the Americas – and the respect of their fundamental rights as Peoples.

Our notion of self-determination:

The ability of a people to freely control and define its destiny on its ancestral lands, according to its unique worldview and its vision of its place in relation to the world beyond its territorial borders.

When we refer to the fundamental rights of indigenous Peoples, we refer to such rights as laid out in international conventions:

  1. the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)

  2. Convention No. 169 of the International Labour Organization (1989)

  3. the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2007)
