FRAMES

The project will take place in two phases: pilot project and sustainable programme.

Following the evaluation of the pilot project, the sustainable programme will be elaborated in full partnership with the participating Mapuche communities.

PILOT PROJECT

(October 2008-April 2009)

  1. Participatory workshops for the collective analysis of the potential strategic uses of digital video, adapted to Mapuche priorities.

  2. Interactive training workshops in the use of digital video technologies (production, filming, editing and diffusion).

  3. Continuous technical accompaniment in the planning and implementation of community video projects.

  4. Support for the diffusion of the digital materials produced, in Chile and internationally.

SUSTAINABLE PROGRAMME

(Possibilities to be developed: 2009 and beyond)

  1. Development of a programme of solidary sharing and exchange between indigenous communities in Canada, in Chile and across the Americas involved in the strategic use of digital video: (1) the creation of a virtual space and (2) the coordination of international exchanges.

  2. Creation of permanent digital production centres and a media library owned and run by the Mapuche communities.

  3. Permanent programme of community workshops offering training in the use of digital video.

This sustainable programme could become integrated into the long-term programming of, among others, the Autonomous Mapuche School of Tranamán.
